GospelSkillz.com.
We are making moves to the next level of excellence and I just want to
thank you for your support. Many of you have written in expressing
your desires for knowledge and insight to reaching your musical
goals. In a nutshell, the formula is simple.
Positive Attitude (Faith)
+
Consistency (Discipline)
--------------------------- = Success (Favor)
This forumula could relate to anything you are involved with, but
especially for musicians, your attitude plays a big part in whether
you meet your goals or not. I was in church this past Sunday and the
guest minister said that the reason many of us can't achieve the
things we want to achieve, is because we have a damaging mentality.
He used an example of when a Mercedes dealership owner approached him
and asked him if he liked any of the cars on his lot. The minister
said "Yes, but I can't afford any of them." The dealer then said, "I
didn't ask you if you could afford it, I asked if you liked any of
them." Long story short, the minister drove off the lot in the
Mercedes of his choice. If you don't speak musical excellence into
your life EVERYDAY and walk in that, you are setting yourself up for
failure. God's favor is laid up for us, if we believe it. Remember
Hebrews 11:1 "...faith is the sub stance of things hoped for, the
evidence of things not seen." Opportunities or FAVOR comes to those
who exercise FAITH and walk in the blessings of God even before they
receive them. If you practice in a spirit of musicial excellence, you
will know exactly what to do with the FAVOR because you have been
acting in it all along. Discipline is also very important to reaching
your goal. Discipline is a part of musical excellence. You have to
get to the point where you are convicted for your inconsistency. This
conviction drives you to get on the ball so you can continue what you
started in God. Also before you practice, ask God to touch your mind
and your hands so that you can get the most out of your preparation
time.

Michael Ross - Minister and Minstrel

I had the awesome
priviledge of interviewing one of the hardest working musicians on
this side of the country, Michael Ross. Mike has accompanied and
shared platforms with the late Dr. Mattie Moss Clark, the late
Reverend James Moore, Bennie Cummings and the late Maestro Thomas A.
Whitfield, The Clark Sisters, Vickie Winans, Shirley Caesar,
Commissioned, Pastor John P. Kee, Donald Lawrence, Hezekiah Walker,
Darius from
Hootie & The Blowfish, BeBe Winans,
Byron Cage, and others too numerous to mention. Mike has a
unique perspective on musicianship in the Kingdom of God that is
truley insightful. Believe me, you will be hearing a lot more from
